Trapped in Paradise

The pandemic that has grasp the Earth and holding the human population hostage right now even has a hold on paradise. The South Pacific and more specifically French Polynesia, for many, is a place of beauty and mystery. The exotic islands stretch skyward from the sea. Extinct volcanoes that now feed nutrients to a diverse ecology and low atolls that are continuing to grow and change, has me trapped due to countries not having open boarders. Also the trappings of wether around the world. Hurricane season in the north Pacific keeps me from sailing to Hawaii. Cyclone season is rapidly approaching in the south Pacific. Typically this time of year sailors are starting to make their way to New Zealand. As of writing this New Zealand is closed with not much hope of opening anytime soon. For some one who suffers from wanderlust this is a bad situation. The will to take a break from the boat to fly and visit family and friends is held in check by the fear of not being able to return to my floating home. I do realize the pettiness of this complaint, with millions suffering throught the world. We all make our own paradise just as we build our own hell. So, for now, I will choose to continue to float in my paradise of constraints.
